Enviro-Challenge - Education for Sustainability, Environmental Leadership Programme, Environmental Education Opportunities
Tauranga City Council
Sponsor six high schools in the Tauranga District through cross-department coordination of resources from a variety of environmental disciplines. The Enviro-Challenge team work closely with TCC to develop outcomes that result in Council initiatives becoming employed in schools. TCC have been an Enviro-Challenge sponsor since 2006.
Waitakere City Council
Involved since 2008, Waitakere City Council aim to engage students in climate change issues through the Enviro-Challenge. In particular, the Council aims to travel to school by car through smart, student led travel planning. Waitakere City Council’s involvement in Enviro-Challenge compliments their investment into the Enviro-Schools programme.
Rotorua District Council
Have been a sponsor of the Enviro-Challenge since 2005. Rotorua district council currently part sponsor six high schools in the Rotorua District. Enviro-Challenge helps to deliver outcomes that align with sustainability initiatives being carried out by the Council.
Western Bay of Plenty
Involved since 2006 and currently sponsor 2 high schools in the western bay. Through Enviro-Challenge, Western Bay District Council engages students in local environmental issues.
Envirostate Limited
Envirostate was the creator of the original Enviro-Challenge programme and has remained a cornerstone sponsor since 2002. Envirostate continue to provide technical support and financial contributions to the programme.
Papakura District Council
Papakura District Council has been involved in the Enviro-Challenge since 2007. Papakura District Council sponsor two high schools in their local area where significant reductions in waste to land fill have been made in participating schools.
Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust
The original sponsor of the Enviro-Challenge programme. The trust has been involved in the programme since 2002 and currently part funds six high-schools in the Rotorua District. Through sponsorship of the Enviro-Challenge, the trust aims to extend its work toward reduction in energy needs.
Eastern Bay of Plenty
Energy options sponsor six high schools in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Through the Enviro-Challenge, Energy Options have been able to implement some of their energy savings initiatives in high schools including redundancy of incandescent light bulbs. Involved since 2007.
TECT
TECT have been involved in the programme since 2006, sponsoring the Tauranga Enviro Challenge schools. TECT's investment in the programme reflects their commitment to youth development and energy efficiency.
