WESTERN HEIGHTS HIGH SCHOOL- ROTORUA
ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPIONS

Western Heights High School in Rotorua have been involved in the Enviro-Challenge programme since its inception in 2002. As regional winners in 2007 and 2008 the school has now set the aspirational target of becoming New Zealand’s first carbon neutral high school.

“The students are talking about it non stop and we have the photos exhibited now around the school. The students are already planning next year's campaign and how we can further extend what we have done. That formed the basis of our discussion once you left. As you say these are our future leaders.

The Enviro-Challenge programme is really making a difference. It is encouraging them to get involved and make change - not just in the school but also in the community. Thank you for the great opportunity you have given these students.”
